Our guide, Eric, climbing towards the cable car. There are souvenir stalls on both sides of the way.
Honestly, I was not expecting to find this on my way up.
About to start our hike
Jenn and Julie pose on the Great Wall
A detail of the watchtower's roof
One of the few instances where the side of the Wall isn't covered by vegetation
The child-size steps that lead you up
Coca-Cola: the official drink of the Great Wall of China?
No matter how much you walk, the Wall seems to go on forever.
This section of the wall has been restored. In sections that remain original (like Simatai) the ground is very uneven and it's a much harder climb.
See? It was steep.
The inevitable souvenir
